What Birds Know
is a graphic novel in progress,
created by Emelie Friberg & Mattias Thorelli. It's intended to be read in printed form, but for now you can read it online for free.
Warning: The comic contains mature themes and therefore it is not suitable for people under the age of 14.
…Not quite sure of what to say about this one. I mean, there were a few subtle things that made me think of the possibility but I brushed them off coz they’re close friends. So um yea, I’m guessing that’s a confirmation of my earlier assumptions…
Not sure I’d jump to any conclusions like that just yet, I’d say they’re probably just to sad and devastated inside to care bout clothes or no clothes and in some serious need for comforting closeness and hugs because of the scary-as-hell-freakaccident that took their best friends life.
I think that’s how I would’ve reacted.
*gives the girls a round of hugs to last’em through the night*
It shows how screwed up Western society is when people take something like this and suspect that it implies some kind of “sexual” relationship (even though they’re both women and thus can’t actually have sex with each other if they wanted to). Two guys can’t even share a bed without it being taken as a suggestion of something erotic going on between them.
Then again the creators of this comic contributed to some kind of crappy smut comic so who knows for sure what is going on here?
Women can have sex with one another, the penis is not a required organ for the process.
Anyway, I still agree that this doesn’t have to be an erotic moment. Abrahamic cultures are too focused on eroticism but the fact is that people can be intimate without there needing to be sex involved. They just suffered a great loss and a need for closeness is understandable.
You’ve never talked to any gays or lesbians about this, have you. Perhaps YOU define sex as exclusively the penis-in-vagina variety, but virtually every homosexual person (and a majority of straight people, too) would include woman-on-woman or man-on-man intercourse as sex, too.
They are most likely NOT having sex, but that doesn’t imply that there isn’t something more intimate than platonic friendship here. It looked pretty clear to me that Vandi is in love with Dores, though it’s unclear if the feeling is returned.
Giddity.

Huh… well, I guess that explain why they were still naked.
That and the fact that their friend’s ashes were still on their clothes.
I still hope Elia is ok…
Of course it -could- mean something, but why would anything have to be implied by them curling up together after suffering a great loss?

It’s impossible for two women or two men to have sex. It’s just glorified petting and penetration.
Actually it’s impossible for anyone to have sex. Only societies can be screwed. (???)
Acacia,

I’m gay and I don’t see it as sex.
I love how Dores opens her eyes in the last panel; you really get a good sense of how protective of each other they are. Especially now.
Good Lord, people.
Dores is comforting Vandi. I don’t get even the slightest bit of a sexual vibe coming from these panels.
People, Acacia is a troll. Stop feeding it.
Anyway, their expressions in the first panel should be enough to tell you that there is nothing sexual about this scene.
