I wonder, if she was the one to climb, would it have fallen on her as well? They are blaming her for something that was a complete accident, probably because they are scared and the fact that their grandfather/father/husband type person almost died freaked them out to no end.
Still not saying that they are in the right. Just saying why I think they may be doing it.

Actually, from the early flashbacks of Dores, we see that her mother always favored her son over her daughter. This is just the last straw. Not that Dores is actually to blame for the acident, of course.

Dores didn’t force her grandpa to climb that ladder, you know? She’s really not to blame.
