Also, even kids who aren’t being the mother-equivalent for the family have chores. There’s a big difference between “cook dinner” and “do everything ever”.

Heck, I bet just cooking dinner is a relief – no more spoon-feeding mom, no more sponge baths, no more bed pans, or dirtied sheets…
